The Strangles Beach (1.8 miles)

This is a small rock-bound cove, with a shingle beach and steep cliffs behind, making it very sheltered and extremely hot in the summer. The northern side of the beach is often occupied by naturists - so perhaps not one for Granny and kids to visit!

Boscastle Food and Arts Festival (2.1 miles)

Back in 2004 the little fishing of Boscatle was hit by a terrible flood. It pulled through and out of adversity has come a renewed spirit of community. The Food and Arts Festival was born out of this zest for life, giving the event a real zing. Plus, it's home turf for some big-hitters on the north coast's culinery scene. Expect cookery demonstrations from Michelin-starred chefs.

Boscastle (2.2 miles)

One of the few sheltered harbours on the north coast, Boscastle became famous in 2004 due to the devastating floods that swept through the village. The community has recovered remarkably well, and Boscastle is once more a thriving resort and a lovely village to visit.

Boscastle Walking Week (2.3 miles)

If you've been to Boscastle you'll know why this walking festival just keeps on growing. Its coastline and inland woodland walks have got the wow factor by the bucketload. Tag along on a guided ramble, visit waterfalls, schlep up cliffs. Or just meander along the country lanes and paths - if you get accused of slacking, use Thomas Hardy as your defence. He wrote some of the best verse in the English language mooching along Boscastle's by-ways.
