A plaque on the wall states ‘The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it’ – Ralph Waldo Emerson. This quote from the American writer illustrates the Owner’s welcoming attitude – he also owns Skisdon (1207, 1208 and 1481) in north Cornwall. Set in the small South Hams village of Beeson, only a half-mile from the beach at Beesands, detached Quick’s End is delightful. Believed to date from the 17th Century, there are, as expected in a cottage of this age, one or two low lintels and the stairs are very narrow and steep (please take care with toddlers and the elderly). The attractively furnished sitting-room has a multi-burner, ideal for out-of-season visits. There is also a second small sitting-room which doubles as a study, and the kitchen/diner has a pine dining-table complemented by an old pine dresser. One of the best things about this cottage is the grounds. With garden furniture close by, there is also an enormous sloping grassed area where children can run about, but take care with toddlers by the small stream. *A cot is not provided, please bring your own travel cot. Please note that the changeover times are 4pm on arrival and 10am on departure.
