So-called because of its far reaching views across the bay towards the infamous Manacles – a cluster of rocks that has destroyed many a vessel in the past – this modern little terraced cottage is set high on the cliffs at the edge of Coverack village within the impressive grounds of the former Headland Hotel, approached by a private road and now comprising several well appointed apartments. The immediate coastline is spectacular, just above the National Trust owned Chynhalls Point (see photograph), with the magnificent coast path only a stone’s throw away. The surrounding eight acres of land include a tennis court for guests’ use, extensive lawns, and a footpath leading to a small beach which is sandy at low tide. Inside The Manacles the accommodation is reversed to take full advantage of the view, the open plan living-room upstairs carpeted in pale green, with comfortable sofas and pine occasional furniture and a well-equipped kitchen-area with oak-fronted cabinets. The cottage also has a private terrace and small garden to the rear, accessed through sliding glass doors from the ground floor twin bedroom.
