Surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Penwith peninsula, Dowran Barn is an 18th Century end of terrace barn in the midst of a working farm, with an enclosed garden and approached by a short farm track. The reversed accommodation provides a first floor kitchen, decorated in grey and white, and the sitting-room boasts a wooden floor, wood-burner and high-vaulted ceiling. A folding stairway can be pulled down into the sitting-room; this takes you up to the fully balustraded gallery (take care with children). A skylight and dormer window look out to the Isles of Scilly on a clear day and, at night, you can see the lights of five lighthouses through the thoughtfully provided telescope. Dowran is a tiny hamlet with just a farm and some cottages. The coastline is dramatic and there are many sandy beaches and coves within a few miles.
