Set high on the western slopes above the picturesque village of Cadgwith with magnificent views of the cove and the ocean (see photograph), delightful Lofty’s Cottage is one of a row of former coastguard cottages accessed by a leafy unmade lane. This welcoming cottage is full of character, named after the fisherman who once lived there and steeped in seafaring history. Many original features have been retained, including tiny ornamental Victorian fireplaces upstairs and a little nook off the spacious double bedroom where in bygone days the coastguard may well have spent his long hours on watch. Nowadays the fabulous view is more comfortably enjoyed from the gorgeous oak bed! Last but one in the terrace (the right-hand white cottage in the middle of the photograph), Lofty’s Cottage is approached across a small rear courtyard. Beyond the large kitchen/dining-room the cosy south-facing sitting-room has a welcoming wood-burner, and a French door opening onto steps leading to the sunny garden and its simply breathtaking views. Ideal for exploring the Lizard peninsula and the spectacular coastal footpaths, this is the perfect place to relax with the beach, its fishing boats and the excellent village pub just a leisurely stroll away down the steep hill.
