Hayloft

4036 - New

1.4 miles S of Wells / Sleeps 6 + cot

7 Nights from £989 - £1998

Wellesley Park is something really special, a cluster of beautifully presented individual properties in the gentle countryside just outside Somerset’s historic Cathedral City of Wells. Guests at Hayloft have the bonus of an exclusive spa which includes a stunning heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gym, all-weather tennis court (bring your own rackets and balls), lake fishing (don’t forget your rods and license), and a library with views of Wells Cathedral and the backdrop of the Mendip Hills in the distance. Hayloft is situated on the edge of the Park with views over the countryside and a very high degree of privacy in its fully enclosed garden. This exceptionally high quality property has a very welcoming open plan layout on the ground floor with French windows to the garden. The kitchen island is a focal point of the living space which is spacious and light. The luxurious bedrooms, two with en suite facilities and one next to the family bathroom, are set over the first and second floors. Guests bringing their dogs will love the huge dedicated exercising field.

South-facing Hayloft has under-floor heating throughout and the floor to ceiling windows which are a feature of one whole face of the building let the light come flooding in. It is lovely to stay in a property that is so open to the views and yet so private too. The spa facilities for those living or staying at Wellesley Park are fabulous, immaculately maintained and are there for you to enjoy – we are sure that you will understand that there are just a few rules to take note of which are for the benefit of all and for your safety. A holiday here gives you easy access to the historic Cathedral City of Wells with the cathedral of course, the Bishop’s Palace and the cathedral green which is surrounded by medieval buildings. There is a twice weekly street market at the heart of Wells where you can sample delicious hot food as well as local produce to take away. Out and about you are just below the Mendip Hills. As well as the famous Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole caves, there is a stunning vantage point at the top of the hill above the lesser known Ebbor Gorge where you can quite literally see the whole of Somerset! If you set out in the other direction from Hayloft you will quickly find the Somerset Levels. To set the scene try an ancient route from Hayloft, just up the lane, via Launcherley towards Glastonbury. This unique landscape is home to some incredible RSPB bird sanctuaries which are a sight to be seen, especially out-of-season at migration or nesting time, whether you are a bird-watcher or not. A bit further afield you have Bruton with the famous international Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery, Frome with its monthly artisan market which people travel to from far and wide, and for a bit of pampering, visit the Mulberry store at the Kilver Designer Outlet in Shepton Mallet or the Clarks Shopping Village at Street. Even the Wells or Glastonbury reclamation yards are a day’s outing in themselves with some extraordinary treasures to discover. There is so much to see but of course only if you can tear yourselves away from the luxury of Hayloft and the spa!
