This fabulous Somerset property set in the lovely village of West Bagborough in the Quantock Hills, has panoramic views which will take your breath away. Bashford Lodge is ideal for a multi-generational family or group of friends as there is so much to see and do in the area for all ages. Superb quality throughout includes three luxurious double bedrooms with super-king beds that can also be made up as twins, three spacious wet-rooms, a really large open plan living-area with the most stunning full-width balcony; and a sheltered ground floor patio wrapped around two sides of the lodge. All will love the touch of luxury that comes hand-in-hand with the wonderful great outdoors. There is direct access through the fields to the 9,500 acres of the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Book a ride with Quantock Trekking, which is run by the Owners from stables at the farm, stroll to the local pub, The Rising Sun, or, for a real treat, wonderful farmhouse cooking is available by arrangement.
The wide balcony is the best vantage point from the property with views for literally miles, the sheltered terrace/patio is ideal for barbecues – and a safe place for children to watch the horses riding out. At the top of the fields there is open countryside and that special feeling that is often rare today – space! The main living accommodation and the bedrooms are on the first floor of this striking property. Top quality furnishings and facilities, including a Bose Bluetooth sound link system, wood-burner and fully equipped sleek kitchen complete with a 12 bottle wine cooler, will make your stay a really special one. The entrance is on the ground floor where there is a wet-room and also a very cleverly thought out laundry/drying/boot-room, with access just to the side of the front door a few steps along the ground floor outside terrace. Just above the lodge, the open space of the Quantock Hills stretch from just above Taunton all the way to the Somerset coast. The beach at Kilve is a must as it is Somerset’s own Jurassic Coast, with amazing rock patterns and a gentle section of the South West Coast Path. If you want to find a sandy beach for children, Minehead is not far and this traditional seaside resort will offer plenty of fun for them. You can even travel to the coast on the West Somerset Steam Railway train from Bishops Lydeard just down the road from West Bagborough. For dedicated walkers, head up into the hills and pick up the Coleridge Way – you are very likely to spot herds of deer along the way and they even come down into the fields above the Lodge to graze. What better after an exhilarating day out than a lovely local pub, The Rising Sun, just five minutes’ walk away. Facing away from the Owners’ home next door and therefore a very high level of privacy and with parking for up to five cars, this is somewhere to go for a truly memorable holiday.
