From the moment you turn into this little piece of heaven from the narrow Devon lane you will be amazed. From the shared private parking-area you transport your luggage with a wheelbarrow up the quite steep track and a few steps to your gorgeous cedar-clad yurt. Buzzard is furnished in contemporary colours with plenty of space for you all to loaf around inside or out. The main yurt is eight metres in diameter, divided into sitting, bedroom (with king-size bed), dining and fully-fitted kitchen areas. There is an en suite shower-room and separate cloakroom, while an entrance hall/corridor links to the smaller yurt with a triple bunk-bedroom and its own shower-room with WC and wash-basin. Under-floor heating and a wood-burner guarantee you will not be cold whatever the elements throw at you outside. WiFi is available, and inside Buzzard has a TV, Blu-ray DVD player, Bluetooth sound system, electric cooker, microwave, fridge with ice-box and a dishwasher; there is even a washing machine tucked into a cupboard with an iron and ironing board. We think that apart from cooking or sleeping, and even the former can be done on the barbecue outside, you will spend most of your time on the large deck, soaking up the woodland setting and views or lolling gently in the warm water of the wood-fired hot tub. This is stunning accommodation.
Please don't be nervous about the 'glamping experience'. Buzzard is just incredible with all the equipment you would expect to find in a cottage with the added charm of an unusually and beautifully designed space. No doubt you'll find it hard to tear yourselves away from this amazing place but do venture out from time to time as south Devon has so much to offer; glorious tree-lined estuaries, some fantastic beaches, Blackpool Sands in particular, pretty higgledy piggledly thatched cottages in tiny villages, historic towns such as Dartmouth and Totnes are all well worth exploring. Also do try to visit Greenway, Agatha Christie's house which has now been totally restored by the National Trust. You can get the foot ferry across to the estate from nearby Dittisham. You can arrange hire of a motor boat, sailing boat, paddle boards and kayaks locally, and the Owners also have adult mountain bikes for hire too. But no matter what you decide to do or where to visit, be assured there will be a warm welcome back at Buzzard when you return and evenings can be spent on the deck, in the hot tub (the water does take at least a couple of hours to warm up initially), or snuggled up around the wood-burner.
