Drive along the Teign estuary from the waterside village of Shaldon to this really gorgeous house, completed in December 2011. Ringmore Garden House is built into the side of a hill with views of the water, vast – and we do mean vast – amounts of space, two terraces and a sheltered garden (take care with children around the covered pond). The huge kitchen/diner certainly has the ‘wow’ factor. There are views of the water and there is an electric oven, gas hob and combination microwave. There is also a four oven Aga for those who wish to use it (please notify the Owner 24 hours before arrival). This very well-equipped room is oh-so-stylish; gleaming black granite work surfaces, a central island, modern kitchen units and a table large enough to sit around and linger over a meal. The neighbouring Owner runs Aga cookery courses and can sometimes provide (48 hours’ notice required – price on application) cooked meals or a cream tea to enjoy in the garden – you might even want to try one of the courses during your stay. The sitting-room is enormous with leather sofas and cream carpets, and the television-room has a 50” television and Blu-ray DVD player – maybe catch up on a film or that crucial match. With the sitting-room leading out to an enclosed terrace and a garden-room (approached by a few steps) with doors to a second terrace, there is certainly plenty of room to relax and get into holiday mode. The bedrooms are downstairs, each with contemporary en suite bath or shower-rooms. There is a laundry-room on this floor and an internal door to the games-room. Shaldon has its own small beach and all of the delights of Torbay and the south Devon coast are within easy driving distance. So for that special occasion or just because you want a real treat, Ringmore Garden House will be perfect. Please note that the changeover times are 4pm on arrival and 10am on departure.
