Heron’s Rest is a hidden delight. Park up and walk down the narrow, stepped path and you will find it tucked below the gardens of the cottages above with a wonderful view over the patio wall, the River Dart sparkling in the distance and the South Devon Steam Railway running along the valley.

Surrounded by the Greenway Estate, once owned by Agatha Christie (now by the National Trust), and almost all on one level, Heron’s Rest is gorgeous. The sitting-room’s floor to ceiling glazed doors take full advantage of the view, and the larger of the bedrooms also has huge glazed doors. With under-floor heating in the living area and radiators elsewhere, this is the perfect bolthole whatever the season.

Furnished and equipped with comfort in mind, this lovely retreat will help you shake off the stresses of everyday life and completely unwind. You may choose to stay close to the cottage and simply enjoy its peaceful setting, but if you wish to venture further afield, from here you can simply walk down the lane and catch the foot ferry over to Dittisham and Dartmouth.
