Brambles is a semi-detached, single-storey stone barn conversion set around a gravelled courtyard with the Owners’ farmhouse and three other cottages, including The Cart House (1685). The large sitting/dining-room, with a wood-burner and doors to a sitting-out area, has original beams in the high ceiling giving a sense of character and space. Both good-sized bedrooms have exposed beams, and overlook a grassy slope where three Jacob sheep peacefully graze. The well planned kitchen and family bathroom complete the comfortable accommodation, and a shared laundry-room is across the courtyard. Guests are welcome to help feed the animals, and there are twenty acres of fields and woodland to explore (stock permitting) where a variety of wildlife is often seen. With lush wooded valleys and prosperous farmland this beautiful part of Cornwall is a hidden gem, slightly inland from the picturesque coastal ports of Looe and Polperro but with easy access to local beaches and coastal walks, as well as a number of golf courses and National Trust properties.
