Under two miles from Maenporth’s family-friendly beach, The Old School House is a delightful base from which to explore this lovely part of Cornwall. Mawnan Smith itself has a range of shops and a good village pub, only a stroll from the cottage. Trebah and Glendurgan gardens are just a short drive away, pebbly Grebe Beach providing a picturesque alternative to bustling Falmouth’s sandy beaches. For the more active, watersports are available at Helford Passage, where the scenic South West Coast Path crosses the river. Set back from the road at the heart of the village, this beautifully refurbished cottage stands behind its fully enclosed gravelled and decked garden. Inside, there is under-floor heating downstairs and in the first floor bathroom, as well as a cosy wood-burner in the comfortable sitting/dining-room – beware the low beams if you are tall! The kitchen has an electric range cooker and white units with beech-effect worktops, the slate flooring continuing throughout the ground floor. Upstairs are three pretty bedrooms, furnished in a contemporary style.
