Follow the pretty lanes into the east Devon hills and there, in the heart of this rural idyll not far from the south coast, lies Wadsbury Cottage. With gorgeous countryside views and just a short drive from the spectacular coastline at Branscombe, picturesque Beer or the sandy beach at Lyme Regis, this comfortable, single-storey detached cottage stands next to the Owners’ farmhouse, which they use themselves at weekends. Inside the cottage the spacious double bedroom and the smaller twin room, each with a bathroom or shower-room, are separated by the cosy open plan living-room in the middle. The sunny front patio overlooks the beautiful garden, part of which is for guests’ use, and which has views towards the sea shimmering in the distance. (The Owners’ private area of the garden includes two unfenced ponds, but these are out of bounds for guests.) The market towns of Axminster, Chard, and Honiton – well-known for its antique shops and tea-rooms – are all within easy reach, and Exeter is a half hour drive away.
