St Ives needs little or no introduction. Famous for its cobbled streets, harbour (see photograph) and fabulous beaches, it is also known for its long association with artists, amply illustrated by the Tate St Ives gallery which overlooks St Ives Bay. Barnabas Cottage is one of a collection of fishermen’s cottages, thought to date back to the 17th Century. This stunning compact cottage has been renovated to the highest standard. Solid oak floors run throughout the ground floor and leather sofas flank the electric stove in the stylish open plan living-room; a beautiful Shaker-style kitchen-area and dining-area provide the setting for a family meal. From here, steep stairs lead up to the two beautiful bedrooms, a separate WC and luxurious shower-room with a double shower. Barnabas Cottage has a private parking space half a mile away up a small hill; the cottage itself is tucked away down a narrow side street, yet only 60 yards from the beach and within a short walk of Porthminster Beach and its renowned Porthminster Cafe. An evening’s amble along the promenade will be the perfect end to a perfect day.
