Sea views do not come much better than those from this beautifully appointed apartment set on the cliffs above the ancient fishing port of Mevagissey where narrow, twisting roads wind between fishermen’s cottages, old smugglers’ haunts and seaside shops. In striking contrast, Marine Point offers delightfully contemporary accommodation with the sitting/dining-room taking in views from Dodman Head in the west to Chapel Point in the east. The glass-sided balcony gives a grandstand view of the fishing boats coming and going from the bustling harbour below (see photograph). Light neutral colours, oak woodwork and the limestone tiled bathroom and shower-room show the quality of the apartment, where the fully equipped kitchen has an open hatch so the views are not missed. All three bedrooms are comfortably furnished, the double having an en suite shower-room and the twin and small single bedrooms sharing the spacious bathroom – even fluffy bathrobes are provided! Stroll down to town where restaurants rub shoulders with centuries-old pubs, tea-rooms serve delicious Cornish cream teas, and fresh mackerel, crab and lobster can often be bought straight from the boats. The golden sand at nearby Pentewan, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the sailing town of Fowey and the Eden Project are all within easy reach by car, while coastal walks offer glorious views and cycle paths pass through nearby valleys.
