Only a mile and a half from the beach and the coast (see photograph), Grouse Barn is in the village of Staddiscombe. A footpath nearby leads to the beach, and although the good-sized, detached barn is in the village, it is quiet and peaceful. The west-facing enclosed garden overlooks fields, whilst Dartmoor can be seen in the distance to the north. The living-room has slate floors and a warming wood-burner for out-of-season breaks. There is a well-fitted kitchen and upstairs are two pretty wood-floored bedrooms. South Devon has much to offer – rolling countryside, tree-lined estuaries leading to secluded beaches and attractive villages. If wanting a bit more ‘get up and go’, Plymouth is close and for a bit of an adventure, why not take a water taxi from Mountbatten across Plymouth Sound to The Barbican, the older part of the City? This pretty little barn conversion is ideal for a small family or friends.
