Aveton Farmhouse, found in a gorgeous valley a few miles from the coast, is set within 134 acres of rolling farmland (some grazing so take care around livestock). Part of the original farmhouse dates back centuries, but over the years rooms have been added, resulting in this spacious and contemporary home. Furnished with flair, Aveton will linger in the memory. A farmhouse-style kitchen/diner with a double oven Aga (the main cooking appliance although a combination microwave is provided) is the heart of the home. French doors lead out to the terrace, which has marvellous valley views. There is a dining-room, a ground floor bedroom (or snug) and steps down to two living-rooms; these offer something for everyone – home cinema, Nintendo Wii and satellite television in the sitting-room, whilst for peace and quiet the drawing-room is comfortably furnished. Upstairs, the landing (take care with the step) has a vaulted ceiling and three of the lovely bedrooms have en suites. The South Hams has much to offer but guests may not want to venture far; there is an indoor heated swimming pool close to the house (children under 16 must be accompanied at all times). With a small gym, a games-room and extensive woodland and riverside walks (take care with toddlers), as well as fishing rights by arrangement, why go anywhere else? The farm cat visits occasionally but the cat flap can be locked to keep him out. A small annexe can provide extra space for two people (not available at the lower price band) and can be rented with the main farmhouse. Aveton Cottage (2355) is elsewhere on site but is not available for rent when the farmhouse is occupied. The lower price band applies for parties of 12 + 2 cots or less. Please note that the changeover times are 4pm on arrival and 10am on departure.
