The view from Rumps Ahead is astounding. Across the fields from this fabulous detached single-storey barn conversion, the sea view is framed by ‘The Rumps’ headland and Doyden Castle on the cliffs. The friendly Owners farm the surrounding land, bordered by the coast path, and guests can walk along the clifftops to Port Isaac or down to the cove at Port Quin. While the surf calls from Polzeath, at Rumps Ahead cosy sofas, under-floor heating, a wood-burner and a double-ended bath await. No expense spared, glamorous and indulgent, the cottage provides a taste of another lifestyle. The Owners’ 14th Century manor house (occasionally a wedding venue or film location), farm buildings and other holiday cottages are nearby but Rumps Ahead enjoys a private setting beside a medieval ‘stew pond’, now a pretty water garden (please take care with toddlers). For first or second honeymoons, Rumps Ahead is the perfect spot.
