Lostwithiel nestles in the beautiful Fowey valley, overlooked by ancient Restormel Castle and surrounded by woodland, riverside walks and an estuary nature reserve. The small town has a quaint mix of antiques shops, restaurants, pubs and bakeries, and narrow streets to explore. Riverview is part of the splendid Grade II Listed former engineering works designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Now award-winning, triple-glazed properties, they stand in landscaped communal gardens between the banks of the River Fowey (see photograph) and the railway line (passenger and freight trains pass slowly) from where the old Cornish Riviera Line runs to the fishing port of Looe or the surfing beaches of Newquay. This duplex apartment has accommodation on the first and second floors, with French doors in the sitting-room opening onto a balcony overlooking the water (take care with children as the river bank is unfenced). A cosy single bedroom and family room with ‘zip and link’ beds, plus another single bed, provide flexible accommodation, while the master en suite bedroom includes the luxury of a six foot bed and a relaxing sitting-area. Please note that the changeover times are 4pm on arrival and 10am on departure.
