Situated in an elevated position behind The Boat House (357), with which it shares a driveway, it commands wonderful river views from almost every room. Approached across the terrace, now covering the old lime kiln, the spacious cottage has been tastefully renovated with a blend of antique and modern furnishings. The maple-built kitchen (with traditional low beams in places) has stairs to the comfortable sitting/dining-room where a magnificent picture window is perfect for watching the comings and goings on the river and the occasionally-used freight railway line running along its edge. Under the eaves on the top floor (beware of the low sloping ceiling), the master bedroom and bathroom have spectacular views over the river to fields beyond. Outside, the front garden offers a sheltered spot for relaxing in the sun (see photograph). Please note, guests at The Boat House have access to a washing line in the rear garden, which is otherwise unavailable for guests’ use, being steep and unfenced.
