Vixen Tor is a magical farmhouse, found down a narrow mile long, very bumpy track (unsuitable for low suspension vehicles) and completely secluded. Park on the grassy bank, walk through the beech tunnel to the front door and the peace and quiet surrounds you. Tucked in under the rocky outcrop of Vixen Tor itself, there are marvellous views from the property, 50 acres of privately owned woodland and riverbank to explore, fishing on the Walkham (bring your own rods) and direct access to Dartmoor. Welcoming whatever the season, there are two wood-burners, a Rayburn and two solar panels for hot water. On a summer’s day the cottage and its wild natural garden (please supervise children around the stream and trampoline) are wonderful. There are several low lintels, steps up and down and a steep and narrow staircase to the bedrooms. So stock up – it’s a long way to the shops and a mile walk to the pub (further by car). The water is from a private supply (tested regularly). Please note that the changeover times are 6pm on arrival and 12 noon on departure.

Bedroom 4 with twin bunk-beds. Bathroom with bath, fitted shower, WC and wash-basin. Cupboard with tumble-drier.
