Vixen Tor is a magical farmhouse, down a mile long track through protected woodland. It is completely secluded, with direct access to Dartmoor and the River Walkham. Walk through the beech tunnel to the front door and feel the peace and quiet surround you. The house is tucked under the rocky outcrop of Vixen Tor itself, has five miles of uninterrupted views and 50 acres of privately owned bluebell and ancient oak woodland and riverbank. There is also fishing on the Walkham. Welcoming whatever the season, there are two wood-burners, a Rayburn and solar powered hot water. In summer the cottage, and its wild natural garden, is a sun-trap and in winter, a cosy hideaway in the clouds. There are low lintels, steps and a steep narrow staircase as with any traditional Dartmoor farmhouse. So stock up on local produce from the market town of Tavistock and enjoy breathtaking walks to local pubs when you are tired of cooking. The water is from a private supply, tested regularly. Please supervise children around the stream and trampoline and take care on the track with low suspension vehicles. Please note that the changeover times are 6pm on arrival and 12 noon on departure.
