A landmark for miles around, the unusual 12th Century church of St Michael of the Rock is perched on top of Brentor with panoramic views over Dartmoor. Below is North Brentor, with Chapel View Cottage at its heart. With a sunny patio, this cottage dates from the 1600s. Steps lead from the lane straight into the dining-room but inside, Chapel View Cottage is very spacious and retains much of the original feel. The dining-room has a tiled floor and leads to the large galley-style kitchen and a separate utility-room. The sitting-room is cosy with terracotta and gold decor and a multi-burner set in an inglenook fireplace. Wooden stairs lead up to the pretty bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom or shower-room. If the delights of moorland walking begin to pall, nearby Tavistock has a busy pannier market, a small theatre and several restaurants. *A cot is not provided, please bring your own travel cot.
