The Rame peninsula is known as the forgotten corner of south east Cornwall. Cawsand and Kingsand are adjoining villages and Cousham Cottage is found in one of the narrow picturesque lanes of Cawsand, less than a one minute walk from the sea and a local pub. This delightful, terraced, Listed cottage is documented as a smugglers’ haunt and there is still a tunnel (now blocked off) leading from a cupboard on the stairs to a nearby former inn. Unexpectedly spacious inside, the many original beams, low lintels (please take care if tall), steps here and there and winding stairs add to the cottage’s historic atmosphere. The large open plan living area on the ground floor has a floral sofa and chairs, dark oak furniture and an attractive fireplace. The kitchen-area is also roomy and well-equipped. A prettily planted raised patio with decking (accessed from the steep stairs) at the back of the cottage provides a totally sheltered sun-trap from which you can hear the sea.
