This pretty terraced, former fisherman’s cottage is in the waterside village of Flushing, across the water from the busy maritime town of Falmouth. A short walk up the hill from the waterfront (see photograph), where a ferry makes regular daily trips across the Fal during the summer months, Dolphin Cottage has a comfortably furnished sitting-room with a traditional open fire and limestone flooring in the light, well-equipped kitchen/diner. Numerous steps lead up to the steeply terraced, landscaped garden, but the bird’s eye view of the village and glimpses of the sea from the deck and patio (fenced, so please take care with children) make the effort worthwhile! Upstairs, the double bedroom has an en suite bathroom and the bunk-room (recommended for children only) and twin room look out over the village street. With watersports, sandy beaches, shops and restaurants in Falmouth and several National Trust gardens nearby, all interests are catered for, but should you wish to explore further afield, then the north coast, the Cathedral City of Truro and the Roseland peninsula are all within easy reach.
