If you were looking for cottages like Stockham Farm, how about trying these:

Stockham Farm is an historic farmstead with panoramic views of the Exmoor National Park, just a few moments’ drive from the charming little market town of Dulverton. This beautifully refurbished and spacious Victorian wing to the traditional period farmhouse is in one of those truly stunning settings that Exmoor National Park is all about.

The tree-lined driveway curves down towards the farmhouse and has amazing panoramic views over the Exe valley to set the scene on arrival. Guests have the dedicated use of an exquisite orchard garden to the side and a huge open lawn to the front of the cottage that truly celebrates the view, each with tables and chairs.

A large and attractive porch is the ideal place for wellies and walking boots and where your dog can dry off. A grand front door leads into the warm and welcoming sitting-room with its fabulous inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove. A short flight of stairs leads to a half-landing with the bespoke kitchen/dining-room to one side and bathroom to the other. Another short flight of stairs takes you to the first floor where both the bedrooms have wonderful unspoilt rural views.

Outside, enjoy the orchard garden all to yourselves and spread out on the large lawns facing the cottage. You can of course also explore the farm’s 35 acres and in particular enjoy the newly restored wildlife pond which has paths around it. You will see deer coming out of the woodland to graze, buzzards circling overhead, and the night sky – with no light pollution at all – will amaze you. Exmoor is one of the very special designated Dark Skies areas.

Stockham Farm is just one and a half miles up into the hills above the quaint market town of Dulverton which offers all that you will need by way of provisions, cafes, independent shops, restaurants and pubs. It is a picturesque and very manageable walk if you want to leave the car.

With easy access to the open moorland and wooded valleys of Exmoor – perfect for an adventure with your four-legged friend – this location offers the best of both worlds.
