Stunning! The perfect holiday! We had an absolute great time at The Parlour over Christmas and New Year. We did not expect any Christmas decorations because we booked the cottage 3 days before our arrival and were so surprised about the tastefully decorated cottage including a Christmas tree (real one) and a very generous welcome pack. The cottage is really, really nice! The views from the Living room are wonderful and the room itself is very comfortable. The kitchen is PERFECTLY equipped, EVERYTHING! you need for cooking is there. My wife enjoyed a good nights sleep in her very comfy bed. Another great advantage of The Parlour is the location. We could walk to the coast. It was so great to order a pint at the Anchor Inn and then sit down at the cliff garden terrace and watch the big waves and see the people from the “Saunawagen” trying to cool down in the sea. A BIG thank you to Alison & Michael from John and Petra ...

Wow! it sounds as if you had a fabulous Christmas at The Parlour. We're thrilled to read how much you enjoyed it and hope to see you again very soon. Julie, Customer Support

We were part of a multi-generational occupancy over two properties. This worked very well, partly as it allowed the oldies to escape from the delightful mayhem of 3 young grandchildren. Lovely position, although Chideock would benefit from a road rerouting. Both properties are stocked with everything you might need (depending on what you think you might need!). ...

This is the fifth time that we have stayed at The Parlour. The high standard of accommodation, the comfort, the owner's attention to detail, and the stunning views of the Golden Cap, make this the ideal cottage for an excellent holiday.

Our stay at the Parlour exceeded our expectations. It had everything we could want for a perfect holiday. The location is beautiful with a south facing aspect and a great view of Golden Cap in the distant, so that at sunset you get great views of the golden light shining behind the hills. The village of Chideock nearby is a real surprise, chock full of history and lovely buildings. I loved the Catholic Church in the village (North Road) built in the mid 19th C High Victorian style with a dome based on the Duomo in Florence. Inside the church is a charming museum with some lovely historical artefacts. If you go into an adjoining car park and peep over the wall you can you see the remains of an old Roman chapel which the local Arundell family, Roman Catholic in religious belief, held secret services during the Reformation. A bit further along the road is a cottage with a Blue Placque on the wall dedicated to 'Chrissie Squire (1894-1976) The 'Chideock Egg Lady'....not sure what they actually meant. I have a few ideas!. A local pub, 'The George Inn' is a very homely and friendly place with good beers and a hearty menu. The local Spar has essentials and a post office. There is slightly bigger Spar just down the road in Seatown, and the walking is fabulous. Golden Cap is a must, as is the walk to West Bay ('Broadchurch' in the TV series). Bridport nearby is a delight to visit. We loved the Art Deco Palace Theatre. There is an hourly bus service to Bridport, Dorchester, Weymouth and Lyme Regis. On our first full day, sadly, my wife fractured her ankle walking back from West Bay, so we can attest that Dorset County Hospital and its staff are brilliant, as are the local taxi drivers. Lucy loved resting up, reading, with the view of Golden Cap in the distant for company. The Parlour was everything we hoped it would be and more. We will definitely be back....
