The stunning World Heritage Jurassic Coast stretches right into east Devon and, just a few miles inland from magical Budleigh Salterton on the coast, over Woodbury Common with its Iron Age fort on the skyline and close to Coleridge's historic home town of Ottery St Mary, a dedicated meadow at Knightstone Farm awaits you - the setting for Beaver's Lodge, a safari tent for four and Rancher's Hut, a delightful cabin for four. Both will accomodate two adults and two children.

This wonderful glamping site is in an enclosed meadow of approximately one and a half acres. Here you will share the setting with an intriguing range of wildlife; foxes, deer, badgers, an otter if you are lucky and, quite amazingly, the wild beavers that live secretly by the river bank - really!

At Beaver's Lodge you can lie back under the stars from your own wood-fired outdoor hot tub or enjoy al fresco cooking on the fire-pit. This spacious safari tent sits in a private, enclosed corner of rolling hillside with glorious views, and boasts a wonderful range of mod-cons on site. From running hot and cold water, comfortable beds and a fully fitted kitchen to a log-fired range and shower-room with shower, wash-basin and a proper flushing toilet, it has it all! There's even a DeliVita pizza oven - shared with the two other hideaways onsite - where you can bake tasty Italian pizzas for a delicious family feast or romantic supper for two, so don't forget all the necessary ingredients.

Park up at the end of the track, load your things into a wheelbarrow for the final few steps, open the gate and take in all that is on offer here.

You will have a real taste of self-sufficiency at Beaver's Lodge as there is no electricity; instead, a generous supply of firewood is provided throughout your stay for the range, which will keep you cosy and warm and doubles as a cooker. Your first bag of logs for the hot tub is included and the owner will top-up your supplies as required - all at a very reasonable cost.

There is a solar panel to power the lighting in the living-room and shower-room (and you can also charge your mobile if needs be) and there is a two-ring and grill camping gas stove on the deck (under canvas cover) for al fresco cooking. The large, south-facing deck at the front of the tent has fabulous views and is a great place to start or end your day of adventures.

Knightstone is a working family farm and therefore cattle from the dairy herd will be grazing in some of the fields, but the glamping meadow is completely enclosed.

On your doorstep, for you to explore and enjoy, are a further 60 acres of farmland, including a wide curve of the River Otter where nature has created an 'island'. Wander through a little copse where steps lead down to a bridge over a spring-fed stream that feeds a beautiful wildlife lake, set in a spacious meadow complete with enclosed play area, picnic table and swing chair. The wildlife lake is completely fenced but the river, though shallow and sandy in places, is not, so please take care. Walk on through the fields to pick up the ancient travellers' paths to Ottery St Mary (just a half-hour stroll) or further on to the traditional village of Tipton St John, where there is an excellent pub.
