Dorchester is rich with history of the famous novelist and poet, Thomas Hardy who resided here in West Dorset in the mid-1800s. Alternatively, you could even take a drive to the National Trust's, Cerne Abbas Giant - which is believed to have been constructed in the late Saxon period.
