Situated up a steep hill above Lyme Regis and with wonderful views from the enclosed garden across the bay and towards the headland of Golden Cap, Penny Plot Cottage is the perfect retreat. Once a cow-byre, this thatched cottage was refurbished in the 1950s by the Owner’s family. The sitting-room is lovely and light with several striking paintings, sculptures and prints, some by the Owner’s father, an artist of some repute. Using her trained eye for colour and design, the Owner has made good use of the space available. The kitchen and bathroom, although compact, are both well-equipped, the former boasting some very attractive hand-painted tiles. The eclectic dining-room is cosy, giving a feeling of warmth and comfort to guests who can enjoy a meal whilst looking out over the garden towards the coast. This part of Dorset is lovely with a superb World Heritage Site coastline, dotted with small villages set in tiny coves and, of course, the lovely old town of Lyme Regis itself just a mile down the hill.
