Old Smithy
2091 is no longer with usIf you were looking for cottages like Old Smithy, how about trying these:
Now beautifully converted into a delightfully peaceful, detached retreat for two, Old Smithy was once a rural blacksmith’s workshop. The wide wooden entrance where horses used to enter are now tall glass doors opening onto a large lawned garden, partly bordered by a pretty little unfenced stream (please take care with toddlers). A cosy wood-burner flanked by two inviting sofas now replaces the forge, with the dining-area at the opposite end of the spacious sitting/dining-room. Another door opens onto a sheltered patio, perfect for afternoon tea, and the slate-effect porcelain flooring continues through to the cream fitted kitchen. Upstairs the bedroom has the flexibility of ‘zip and link’ beds, and there is a bath as well as a separate shower in the bathroom. Nestled beside a quiet private road, Old Smithy is a truly relaxing getaway yet is centrally located for exploring west Cornwall; Falmouth, the Helford River, the Lizard peninsula’s picturesque coves and even St Ives are all within easy driving distance. The property has a private water supply, regularly tested.
