Lowertown is a quiet, pretty little village just outside the historic town of Helston, a peaceful refuge from the hustle of daily life yet within easy reach by car of all the town’s amenities, Porthleven’s picturesque harbour, and several sandy beaches and rocky coves. Dating from the 1870s, Jasmine Cottage lies in a tranquil wooded valley down a long bumpy unmade track (low suspension vehicles take care). With just two neighbours, this charming retreat has a sunny enclosed garden with a patio and gently sloping lawn, and a dramatic view of the privately owned disused viaduct nearby. French doors lead into a spacious kitchen/dining-room with colour-washed units and a large farmhouse table. Two steps take you into the comfortable sitting-room where relaxing sofas face the wood-burner, two more steps leading to the shower-room, utility-room and a little ‘den’ for younger children. Upstairs (mind the step on the landing) three individually furnished bedrooms, with colourful rugs complementing the wood-effect floors, all overlook the garden.
