Just outside the moorland village of Warleggan, down a stone track (take care with low suspension vehicles), is Higher Thorne Cottage. Dated 1774 and facing south in a truly peaceful rural location with absolutely no immediate neighbours, this cottage is a real gem. Lovingly renovated by the Owners who farm across the valley, this is the ideal cottage for a wonderful holiday. Granite steps lead into the spacious sitting/dining-room which has low beams, a stone floor and a multi-burner set in the attractive original granite fireplace. There is a well-equipped kitchen and utility-room and upstairs are four simply furnished, pretty bedrooms, all with wood floors. Outside is a sheltered patio-area and paddock where children can run about. Higher Thorne Cottage is midway between the two coasts, so why not try your hand at surfing or visit one of the famous restaurants that have so enhanced the north coast? Or perhaps call in at the quay at Looe on the south coast and pick up a really fresh fish supper? Nearby St Neot has an excellent pub serving good food and of course, there are some marvellous walks right on the doorstep.
