This pretty terraced cottage makes a perfect base for walking holidays in one of the most beautiful parts of Cornwall. Join the nearby coast path for a stunning hike, or head to the moorlands, then return for a relaxing evening. The cottage was once home to a 19th Century mining family – bal-maidens were the women who worked at the mine heads while their men folk went below ground – and the area’s mining heritage is all around. Separated from the road which runs from St Just to St Ives by a garden, the cottage has been stylishly renovated. There is an open plan sitting/dining-room with an inglenook fireplace housing a large wood-burner. Stairs lead up to two bedrooms and the bathroom, which has a roll-top bath. As well as walking, the cottage is well placed for exploring local art galleries, and nearby beaches such as Sennen Cove.
