Penhallow Coach House is an attractive stone-built property found in the traditional Cornish village of Altarnun. There has been a dwelling on the site, close to the parish church (The Cathedral of the Moors) for centuries, and there is an ancient Celtic cross in the grounds. For Daphne du Maurier fans, Penhallow Manor will conjure up tales of skulduggery and smuggling – mentioned in ‘Jamaica Inn’, the manor was the model for Squire Warleggan’s rectory. There is a pretty little cobbled patio in front of the coach house, and guests are also welcome to use the lawned area in front of the manor. Two steps lead to the front door and straight into the cosy sitting-room which has soft sink-in sofas, a wood-burner and narrow stairs to the first floor. The lovely kitchen/diner has a quarry tiled floor, large dresser and all mod-cons. As well as a ground floor bedroom, upstairs are two more very spacious bedrooms, both boasting en suite facilities. Ideal for exploring the beautiful north Cornwall coast, just a short drive from the Eden Project, Penhallow Coach House is a welcoming and comfortable retreat.
