One of the area’s best kept secrets, the Tamar Valley is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the River Tamar is the county boundary, so why not explore both Devon and Cornwall? Also a short drive from Dartmoor, see how many tors you can scale, or if climbing is your thing, the Owners have an indoor climbing school (available at cost) elsewhere on the farm. Eastacott Barton, approached by a private drive, is a lovely spacious detached Victorian farmhouse with spectacular countryside views and a large, sunny enclosed garden which the Owners’ peacocks often walk around. Found on a working organic farm, although the yard and barns are well away from the house, this is the perfect holiday home for two families or a large group of friends. There is a farmhouse-style kitchen/diner with a dark green four oven Aga (the main cooking appliance although there is also a hob and combination microwave), cream units and a scrubbed pine dining-table big enough for everyone. A separate utility-room offers plenty of storage space, where you can hang up wetsuits. The traditionally furnished sitting-room has an open fire, the music-room has a wood-burner and the television-room has a wood-burner effect stove set in the pretty hearth. The main split staircase leads up from the hall to the bedrooms and there is a spacious family bathroom, a separate cloakroom and another bathroom all on this floor. The back stairs are steep, so take care with toddlers and the elderly. Please note that the changeover times are 4pm on arrival and 10am on departure.
