Named after a beautiful island in the Caribbean, Tintamar seems set in an island of warmth and welcome enclosed by well-planted gardens. This lovely house is situated in a quiet position on the edge of the popular village of Rock. Approached by an unmade drive, the house has many distinctive character features and an informal and contemporary style. Upstairs, guests will be delighted with the light-filled bedrooms, while downstairs the convivial kitchen/diner, with its cosy Rayburn, will provide the backdrop to many fun-filled meals. French doors lead from the garden-room to the terrace, perfect for al fresco drinks or a barbecue. A wood-burner in the sitting-room makes a focal point for cooler evenings. Outside, open-tread steps (please take care with children) lead up to the detached annexe above the garage, with its large bedroom and en suite shower-room, both with sloping ceilings. Guests can walk to Porthilly Cove, or through the famous links golf course of St Enodoc to the crooked-towered church where Sir John Betjeman is buried, and the golden sands of Daymer Bay (see photograph). During the summer, sailing, water skiing and fishing trips are available in Rock, while year-round, surf beckons at Polzeath. Invigorating coastal walks can be rewarded with a cream tea in quaint Port Isaac, while the footsore can reach the restaurants of Padstow either by ferry from Rock or via Wadebridge and the Camel Trail. With such comfortable and spacious accommodation to return to no holiday at Tintamar will be long enough. The main house is available to smaller parties out-of-season. Please note the lower rent band does not apply for holidays beginning on or between 18 March to 27 October and is only applicable for parties of 8 + cot or less.
