Set in unspoilt countryside a short distance from Honiton, well-known locally for its antique shops, pottery and street markets, this cottage is named after the handsome tree standing in the exceptionally pretty, enclosed garden. Sidmouth and Exmouth both offer marvellous beaches for children – a short drive away, as is the Crealy Adventure Park, and the mid-county location of the cottage makes trips to Exeter, Exmoor and Dartmoor all within easy reach. Originally the coach house for the main medieval, thatched farmhouse (which dates back to the Domesday Book), the cottage has many exposed beams. The fully carpeted sitting-room is warmly decorated, with a wood-burner effect gas stove and comfortable upholstery. The kitchen/diner is particularly spacious, with a circular pine table and matching fitted cupboards. An open-tread spiral staircase (please take care with toddlers) leads to the first floor, where both tastefully decorated bedrooms overlook the garden. The Owners have four alpacas in the field across the lane – sure to delight younger children – and offer guests use of their utility-room (washing machine) if required.
