Orchard
1325 is no longer with usIf you were looking for cottages like Orchard, how about trying these:
Orchard is a house of dreams. Pink and perfect, it sits at the end of a private lane in a secret dell less than a mile from the beach and the surf at Westward Ho! (see top photograph). Very spacious and beautifully furnished, Orchard oozes glamour and the enormous bespoke kitchen/dining-room is the hub of the house. Here, everyone will enjoy sunny breakfasts, convivial lunches and fabulous family dinners. The terrace outside is a real sun-trap and ideal for lazy barbecues after a trip to the coast or a walk on one of the many footpaths nearby. Younger guests have so much to choose from – a games-room with table-football and a PlayStation, a huge toy collection in the box-room upstairs, and gardens just right for making dens and playing on the climbing frame. Nearby are the family attractions of The Milky Way and The Big Sheep, both hugely popular with children. Older or less mobile guests will appreciate the purpose-built single-storey annexe, Little Orchard (2116), which is simply lovely and has its own entrance to a large, light-filled bedroom, its own small kitchen-area and a well appointed wet-room. Orchard is set in almost an acre of private grounds with raised lawns, woods, an ancient covered wishing well and a stream (please take care with children) in an area full of history. An original 14th Century window from a religious settlement nearby has been restored and re-fitted between the sitting-room and hall, and the house retains its own original twisting, narrow wooden staircase (please take care with toddlers). Four roomy bedrooms, two en suite, look out onto the gardens and will welcome everyone after days exploring the winding lanes, the coast path and the pretty villages of the spectacular north Devon coast (or even the local pub!). With space for everyone to relax and enjoy, this is a house where memories are made, and nobody will want to leave. The second cot is a travel cot.
