Cornwall, The Moor to River Tamar

Close sidebar

Here is a land shamelessly driven through and rarely stopped at; a spiritual wilderness teeming with beauty and legends. From Bodmin Moor to the River Tamar is a tucked away little corner of loveliness. Old stannary towns like Liskeard nestle at the edge of the wild, beautiful moors that inspired Daphne du Maurier to write Jamaica Inn. Don the hiking boots to follow the path of the beast of Bodmin Moor, over the granite and dramatic landscape of the highest land in Cornwall. Self catering holiday cottages in mid Cornwall provide a welcome shelter from the elements when trekking from Blisland to Bolventor and across to Launceston, or from the north coast down starting at Camelford and heading to Liskeard toward the deep wooded valleys of the south.

With vast expanses of exposed countryside, moor, marsh and valley, this area of mid Cornwall is the best place to bring a pet. Half of our self catering holiday cottages here are dog friendly and there are plenty of welcoming pubs to stop at on a day’s romp across the wilderness, but don’t forget you’ve got to walk back again – we wouldn’t recommend hitching a ride on a wild Bodmin pony!
