Nestled in its own garden within the Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, this is a charming retreat. The park has 865 acres of woods, fields and coastline – your dog will be in heaven!

Originally part of staff accommodation provided by the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, Cremyll Lodge is a comfortable and attractive cottage. There are views across Plymouth Sound from the sitting/dining-room, a kitchen, shower-room and an exceptionally pretty bedroom found up the steep stairs. A private entrance leads to the enclosed patio ensuring privacy from the shop next door and the children’s play-area. The Rame Peninsula, known to locals as ‘the forgotten corner of Cornwall’, is a truly glorious part of the world.

The original boot-room with a flagged floor is ideal for storing coats, walking boots and a wet dog! – once inside you will be enchanted. There are steps up and down throughout the cottage – typical of a building of this age. The sitting/dining-room has great views over the Sound and is particularly attractive with some interrelating pieces of carved wood, much of which comes from the estate.

The Earls of Mount Edgcumbe improved and planted the estate over hundreds of years leading to the creation of one of the most diverse and magnificent Grade I Listed landscapes in the UK.

The Country Park is really quite a place; there are artisan workshops in the Barrow Centre, including a blacksmith, vintage upcycling shop and weaving studio. And if all that doesn’t appeal, there are fantastic walks throughout the estate, you can visit the main house and Earl’s Garden from March to October but the rest of the estate is open to the public all year round. Other attractions include the Orangery, a wonderful cafe.

Adventurers are invited to try out an all-terrain Segway. Transporters have been designed specifically for outdoor use and you will receive full instruction before heading out with an instructor. There are fantastic dog walks, grassland, woods and secret little coves accessed by hidden coastal paths. You can also bring your bikes as an all-weather multi-use track runs around the park. This is such an unusual property and the location couldn’t be beaten. You can catch the Cremyll ferry, a short walk away, over to the Barbican in Plymouth so no need to take the car all the way around if wanting to visit the Devon side of the Sound. If there are others who want to enjoy all that this great park has to offer Horseshoe Cottage (3213) and Yew Tree Cottage (4008) are also available.
