This lovely cottage is just a minute’s walk from the waterside shops and restaurants on Fowey’s picturesque harbourside. Beautifully decorated in understated colours with touches of nautical navy, and impeccably furnished throughout, The Salt Store has a big sitting/dining-room with comfortable sofas, a television and unlimited WiFi.

The galley kitchen has slate floors, granite work surfaces and all the appliances you could need including a big dual-fuel range cooker. Open-sided stairs (please take care with children) lead to the three light and pretty bedrooms, with the main bedroom offering glimpses of the sea and the twin and single bedrooms offering flexible accommodation. Lovely touches, from artwork to cushions, show the standard of the cottage’s presentation.

The narrow streets in the old part of Fowey mean parking is limited but luggage and passengers can be dropped off outside, then cars can be parked in the main car park 10 minutes’ walk away at the top of town.

Fowey is a yachtsman’s heaven with the river chock-full of moorings and masses of boating activity during the sailing season. The narrow streets have bakeries, cafes, restaurants and ancient pubs as well as an impressive selection of local shops and art galleries. Car and passenger ferries sail across the estuary to Bodinnick and Polruan, and there are coastal footpaths galore.

The harbourside is just yards away from The Salt Store so, although the cottage has no garden, you can sit down by the water admiring the view, watching the sightseeing and fishing trip boats coming and going or sampling the cafes and restaurants that look out over the river and offer an inspiring selection of menus, many offering locally sourced Cornish produce. Readymoney Cove is a 15 minute stroll from The Salt Store, with a sandy beach, a swimming pontoon and a little cafe selling drinks and ice creams.

Heading off in one direction you will find Looe and Polperro and in the other there is plenty to explore within very few miles. Walkers will love the wonderfully scenic coastal footpaths and gardeners will be eager to explore the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the renowned Duchy Nursery, which sells wonderful plants and has an equally impressive cafe offering snacks and light meals.
