The Gatehouse is a beautiful single-storey detached property offering stylish accommodation for a small family or one or two couples. Set in a tranquil countryside location, yet within easy reach of the maritime town of Falmouth and the city of Truro and is dog friendly to boot.

The Gatehouse is part of The Emerald - an award-winning eco development - the surrounding five acres houses five eco holiday homes together with a shared gym and shared swimming pool (you can book a 1.5 hour session per day, the system is explained in the property), woodland walks and a very pretty ornamental lake. There is a tennis court with 'all-level' coaching available from an experienced national level player/coach (please book on-site on arrival). In addition, there is a dreamy new spa room offering CACI treatments which work to plump and tone the skin, as well as a bespoke massage service, both can be booked in advance of your stay. There is so much to do here, you may never want to leave.

The Gatehouse just exudes quality as soon as you walk in through the front door. With level access from the parking-area straight into the open plan living-room, notice the exposed wooden beams, the toasty wood-burner and gorgeous sofa which will tempt cosy nights in and perhaps a holiday movie night on the Smart TV or stream some relaxing music throughout the house using the iPod dock. The modern kitchen has fabulous limestone flooring with under-floor heating, granite work surfaces that sparkle and shine and a big island unit which is perfect for you to perch while your chef cooks you supper. We must not forget the all important espresso coffee machine, the delicious smell of fresh coffee might rouse you from your comfortable bed. French doors open onto a terrace that runs the length of the property and provides an opportunity to sit and gaze out over the lawns and orchard. A sunken path leads to the pool house beyond.

The muted-tones of the dreamy principal bedroom which oozes cocoon-like luxury has a super-king size bed and an en suite shower-room with under-floor heating and a spacious walk-in drench-head shower. Open up the small-paned French doors to the bubbling hot tub or enjoy a morning coffee on the south-facing terrace. Equally as lovely, the second bedroom in shades of Café au lait has 'zip and link' beds offering flexible accommodation, so ideal for both a couple or two sleeping separately. The gorgeous and indulgent family bathroom also has under-floor heating and a luxurious double-ended bath - the perfect way to relax at the end of a busy holiday day.

Within the acres of shared grounds is a solar farm which generates all the energy The Emerald needs. This award-winning development is the only truly zero carbon holiday destination in the country having been awarded Code 6 status, the highest possible grading for eco efficiency. There is also a useful Tesla charging point for electric cars here (please bring your own adaptor for other makes). The owners politely ask that you state on arrival if you plan to take advantage of this service and to pay them via cash or bank transfer before departure.

The Gatehouse is a cottage-style property, set slightly apart from the hi-spec, super-insulated cedar-clad properties Fern (2825) and its semi-detached mirror-image Cedar (2824) for couples, Coast (2822), Drift (2823) both accommodating six and Willow (2945) also just for two. The other properties are all accessible for wheelchairs, with level thresholds, ground floor bedrooms and double-width walk-in showers. Any family groups or larger parties can all be accommodated by booking adjacent properties for those special occasions - what are you waiting for?

With restaurants, shops and galleries five miles away in Falmouth or Truro, the superb north coast surfing beaches just 20 minutes by car and the gentler south coast within easy reach, this really is the ideal holiday Cornish destination for both the adventurous and those simply seeking some well-earned down-time.
